Behind the Words

Hi!

I'm Carolina as you can see by the title of my new website. I thought it would be fun for the readers of my poems to get to know a little about me so here I go.

In 2012 when I was 5, I got diagnosed with Kidney Failure. I spent my first year being diagnosed going through chemotherapy but unfortunately, that wasn't working for me so I had a surgically implanted dialysis catheter so I could be transferred to dialysis. I was in the dialysis center 3 days a week for 3 hours. It basically became a second home to me. In 2015 I was given the gift of a kidney and got transplanted on February 1st. 

Since was taken out of school for all of this I was homeschooling but even with that it still put me a bit behind in my studies. Thankfully now I have amazing teachers who helped me improve a lot in my studies. Now I go to an awesome school called YCIS(Yew Chung International School of Silicon Valley) which has wonderful people inside of the school.

 I have an amazing family consisting of my mom, dad, sister, grandparents, and the dog. This year was my 5th kidney anniversary which in my eyes is a HUGE accomplishment even though I still have many more years to live out my life.
